The Campus Diversity and Unity Committee (CDUC) proudly announces the 2023 Catherine Yonker Memorial Scholarship Award and invite you to submit your nominations by April 6.
This Award was established by the Catherine Yonker family to acknowledge members of the Trinity community who make significant contributions toward Christian racial reconciliation and cross-cultural understanding. Each year, a one-time award or scholarship of $3000 is given to one member of the Trinity community–faculty, staff, or an entering senior student—in recognition of their positive influence and action toward this goal.
In Trinity’s earliest years, Catherine Yonker served as an executive secretary and founding member of the Trinity Women’s Guild. With her husband Jim, they also funded uniforms and equipment for Trinity’s first hockey team.
Members of Trinity’s Campus Diversity and Unity Committee will meet to review the nominations and consider the rationale for each nominee.
Please submit your nominations by April 6th at noon.

“Earning the Catherine Yonker Award at that time in my journey, when I still wasn’t comfortable being a leader, helped affirm to me to how to use my gifts. I didn’t know there was a space on campus where this kind of emotional labor could be honored and monetarily supported. It was a huge revelation.”

“I felt honored to win the Catherine Yonker Award. I found it so humbling that people thought so highly of me. You never know when you are making an impact, but it meant so much to be recognized for that. At Trinity, you can find out who you are. It’s OK to be in your own skin.”
