The Michael S. Schisler Scholarship removes financial barriers for first generation students of the NCCAA, helping them pursue their dream of a college education. Michael Shayne Schisler became the first in his family to go to college because of a scholarship opportunity. The scholarship not only changed the trajectory of his life, but that of his family as well. Mike’s son, Kyle, is following in his father’s footsteps and is the franchise Owner/Operator at Chick-fil-A in Crestview, Florida. Kyle started this scholarship as a way to honor his father’s legacy through supporting the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). Mike loved helping people achieve their goals, and he loved the NCCAA. Mike began attending NCCAA events in 1995 when he was introduced by Truett Cathy and Jack Sentell at Chick-fil-A. In 2000, Truett and Jack passed on the responsibility of being the Chick-fil-A point of contact for the NCCAA. Mike served the NCCAA through providing meals at fundraising events and as a board member with the organization.

“The generosity of Mike Schisler’s family, led by Kyle Schisler, will have long reaching impact on future NCCAA member students and their ability to attend a Christ-centered institution with the assurance of being financially able to complete their degree,” said NCCAA Executive Director Dan Wood. “The idea of Mike’s legacy being felt for generations to come, is now in place within the association he served and loved.”

“Michael Schisler was a man of integrity who sought truth in all things,” stated Kyle Schisler. “He was a man of courage who never backed down from a challenge. His passion and courage, with the help of a scholarship, made him the first in his family to graduate college. His accomplishment changed the course of future generations. The Michael S. Schisler scholarship was created to impact future generations through supporting those with a financial need who are pursuing a higher education.”

Kyle and his family desire to honor his father’s legacy through this scholarship which will be given to applicants who reflect the same work ethic, perseverance, and determination of Mike.
